5 Church Website Tweaks To Increase Your Online Giving

How easy would it be for your church members to give if you stopped passing the basket entirely?

Ok, so maybe you don’t use a basket, but somehow, someway, you’re making giving accessible to your members each and every time they visit your church.

Not only are you inviting members to give during service, there’s probably also an easy way to give without much effort whether it’s a kiosk, a basket, or their own mobile device (thanks to companies like Mogiv).

It’s how church giving has always been done.

But something strange happens on church websites when it comes to giving. The way things are naturally done in person seems to be completely forgotten online, and many churches make it harder than it needs to be for people to donate.

In fact, though technology is available to make it simple, there are still many churches who don’t receive a single dime online. Even big churches with thousands of members often miss these online giving opportunities. Opportunities that could provide them additional resources to increase their staff, expand their outreach, and create more channels for outreach.

After completing a website redesign for one of the largest churches in Chicago, here are 5 website tweaks that have been proven to dramatically increase online giving. (more…)

What’s The Deal With PayPal?

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Communication, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

“We were looking into a few other giving solutions, but eventually we decided to just go with PayPal.”

If you’ve ever heard or said this exact thing, than take a look around because you have LOTS of company. And it’s easy to see why.

With credit card processing fees of only 2.2% + $0.30, PayPal is still one of the cheapest giving solutions available. And, admittedly, PayPal is an fine solution for basic financial processing. If you want to electronically send money from Point A to Point B, you can’t do much better than PayPal.

But simply sending money is not all digital giving is about. What about all of the other things your church needs from your online giving platform?

  • What about flexible (and easy-to-edit) recurring giving options?
  • What about multiple giving funds to direct donations toward different ministries within your church?
  • What about a suite of admin tools and reports that will help you draw givers deeper into your community?
  • What about direct deposit of contributions?
  • What about text and mobile giving???

Don’t Just Ask People To Give…Ask Them To GivUp!!

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Inspiration, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

Sometimes, when I talk about the feature of Mogiv that I want to tell you about today, it’s hard for me to not lapse into my cheesy “infomercial” voice.

“Are you tired of stagnant giving and unengaged givers? Have you tried everything you can think of to increase giving to your church with NO LUCK?? Well thank your lucky stars, because your ship has come in! Don’t stress about giving…GivUp!!

Give up? No, no, no…not “give up” as in “quit.” I’m talking about “GivUp” as in the unique tool offered by Mogiv that lets you encourage your congregation toward sacrificial giving in a way that is both interactive and fun. Here’s how it works: (more…)

2015: The Year Of Online Giving

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Online Giving, Uncategorized.

The Internet has been many things over the past two decades. At first it was a novelty. Then it was a super highway, a boom, a bubble, a bust, and a new frontier. Along the way, it became wireless, social, lightning fast, and mobile. And now, as we start another year, it has become a few other things as well. Indispensable. Ubiquitous. Inescapable. As essential to our daily lives as automobiles and electricity.

And yet despite all of this, many churches continue to treat the Internet as if it is a fad or inessential luxury. This is especially true when it comes to engaging with online and mobile giving tools.

Despite the fact that less than 7% of transactions in the United States are conducted via cash and check, over 75% of American churches still do not offer any form of online giving. That’s right. Three out of every four churches in America are staking their financial health on the hope that their members will give consistently using payment methods they only use 7% of the time. In 2015!

If this describes your church – if you and your team have relegated digital giving to a “we’ll get to it one of these days” type of conversation – then I have a challenge for you. I challenge you to make 2015 “one of those days.” Make 2015 the year you take online and mobile stewardship seriously. (more…)

The 5 Things Every Self-Respecting Church Giving Platform Should Include

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Online Giving, Uncategorized.

Let’s face it: you didn’t get into ministry because you loved talking about finances.

This is especially true when it comes to the ever-evolving world of online and mobile giving. You’ve probably heard that digital giving is something your church needs, but – with so many pressing concerns demanding your constant attention – when will you ever find the time to do the necessary research?

We get it. Giving technology is our passion, but it certainly isn’t (and shouldn’t be) yours!

So let’s cut out the clutter and focus on the basics. Let’s talk about The 5 Things Any Self-Respecting Church Giving Platform Should Include. Consider these your “online giving Spark Notes.” If your giving platform does a good job with these five things, you’ll already be head and shoulders above the rest.

1) Recurring Giving – This one comes up a lot, but with good reason. The ability to automate weekly and monthly donations is the #1 benefit online giving can provide your church. The easier and more flexible your platform makes this process, the better. (more…)
