3 Things Southwest Airlines Taught Me About Online Giving

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Church Life, Mobile Giving, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

I’ve been spending a lot of time on Southwest Airlines flights this year. And it’s all my wife’s fault. She travels for work at least once a month, and – since my work for Mogiv can be done from anywhere with Wi-Fi and cell reception – I’ve made a habit of tagging along. Especially when she’s traveling to a city with an abundance of mountains, beaches, coffee shops, or some combination thereof.

Whether you’ve flown on Southwest Airlines or not, I bet you’re well familiar with their brightly colored planes and quirky antics. Their winning corporate culture, and uncommon approach to air travel have won them numerous awards over the years and have inspired more than a few business school case studies.

But corporate execs and rival airlines aren’t the only ones who could borrow a page or two from Southwest’s playbook. Those of us working in fundraising and church stewardship could learn a few things from them as well!

Turns out, some of the things Southwest is getting right are as essential for online giving as they are for air travel. Seem like a stretch? Let me show you what I mean. Here are three parallels that I jotted down on a recent Southwest Flight. (more…)

Mogiv Case Study: Blairland Baptist Church

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Mobile Giving, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

If you’ve been reading The Mogiv Minute for more than…a minute, you’ve probably heard us saying some pretty outlandish things about our giving platform.

  • Mogiv will make it easier for people to give to your organization online!
  • Mogiv will increase your OVERALL giving each month!!
  • People will start giving to your organization who have never given before!!!
  • All aspects of your life will just generally be better once you sign up with Mogiv!!!!

You’d be forgiven for regarding these claims a bit skeptically. The Internet is filled with dubious and overly enthusiastic claims. From the “!!!!” ridden headlines lining my social media accounts, it seems sometimes like every cheesy car dealership commercial I’ve ever seen has been uploaded directly to my computer. I’m sure you’ve experienced the same.

And besides, it’s not as if Mogiv is an un-biased source either. Of course we think Mogiv is fantastic! We built it! 🙂

So that’s why we’re asking you to NOT take our word for it. Whenever we can, we want to share with you what actual users are actually saying about Mogiv. This is why we’ve included customer quotes on our homepage, and lengthier testimonials on our Customer Spotlight page. It’s also why we have created profiles on various software review websites – like Capterra and Software Advice. (more…)

Building A Better Giving Page With Mogiv

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Mobile Giving, Mogiv Tips, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

So you’ve gone out and done what your “tech guy” or “web gal” or “generationally hip executive pastor” has been begging you to do for months. You’ve gotten your church setup for online giving!

That’s fantastic! High fives and backslaps all around.

As you probably already know, one of the coolest things about Mogiv is the fact that all of our giving tools can be added directly onto YOUR website. (See HERE for a cool example.) This allows your givers to engage in generosity while remaining 100% connected to your organization’s digital “home.”

It’s a better experience for them, AND it also works better for you. Studies have shown that branded, integrated giving pages are 6x more effective than their more generic counterparts.

But…simply copy/pasting Mogiv’s giving form onto a blank page on your website does NOT a maximized giving page make. The form needs “company!” And by “company”, we mean content. Scripture verses, instructions, photos, videos, links to FAQs. Some of the above. All of the above! Just don’t leave the giving form all by it’s lonesome. (See HERE for another stupendous example.) Mobile Giving Was Up BIG in 2015! Was Your Organization Up With It?

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Mobile Giving, Uncategorized.

Through my work at Mogiv, I’ve had a front row seat to the rise of mobile giving in recent years. But even I was surprised to discover just how much mobile giving increased in 2015.

A recent study released by npENGAGE revealed that mobile donations were up a whopping 45% during the last few months of 2015.

And that’s not all they discovered. Here are a few other key takeaways from the article… (more…)

3 Things You Can Do To Increase Giving This December

Written by Mogiv Team, Filed under Mobile Giving, Online Giving, Uncategorized.

Next to the retail employees at your local mall, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone working harder in the months ahead than pastors and church leaders.

There are Christmas concerts and nativity pageants to be coordinated, extra services and outreach opportunities to be planned, not to mention all of the traveling, shopping, and family get-togethers that pack an already crowded schedule!

With so much going on, it’s understandable that certain things like generosity end up getting “back burner-ed” for a few weeks. But it shouldn’t!

As I’m sure you know, the holidays are the single most important season for your churches’ finances! (Fun Fact: Nearly 18.00% of all charitable giving and over 22% of online giving takes place in the month of December alone!) It’s no exaggeration to say that many churches’ budgets will be saved or sunk in the weeks ahead. In fact, over 40% of churches report that they receive fully HALF of their annual budget in the month of December alone.

Whatever the case may be at your church, generosity is too important a topic to ignore until January. But that doesn’t mean it needs to occupy a ton of time either! Below are three easy things you can do in the weeks ahead to ensure that your church ends 2015 on a high note. (more…)
