Mobile Giving Was Up BIG in 2015! Was Your Organization Up With It?

Through my work at Mogiv, I’ve had a front row seat to the rise of mobile giving in recent years. But even I was surprised to discover just how much mobile giving increased in 2015.

A recent study released by npENGAGE revealed that mobile donations were up a whopping 45% during the last few months of 2015.

And that’s not all they discovered. Here are a few other key takeaways from the article…

Mobile giving still has tremendous opportunity for growth – While mobile giving took a significant leap forward last year, it still accounted for a mere 14% of total giving in 2015. When you consider that 64% of Americans own a smartphone, and 45% own a tablet, you’ll see there is still room for MAJOR growth through this giving channel.

Apple is still the king of mobile – 85% of mobile donations came in via iPhones and iPads. Android was a distant third with 14%. Interestingly though, giving from iPads was way down from 2014. (Dropped from 61% to 43%.) This suggests that smartphones have overtaken tablets as the dominant mobile giving device.

Mobile responsive websites are more important than ever – Not only do they look better, they work better as well! A separate study by npENGAGE revealed that responsive websites improved donate page conversion rates from 7.45% to 10.09%. An increase of 34%!!

These are numbers that every church needs to take seriously. The Internet has gone mobile, and giving has gone mobile with it!

That is why Mogiv has been leading the charge with mobile generosity for over six years now. Our text giving option, and 100% mobile-responsive giving forms will ensure that your members can ALWAYS give – quickly, securely, and conveniently – no matter what new-fangled device they may be using.
